Who is Lucy Bronze? Her life from Leeds Domino's worker to England football star and rumoured relationship with Keira Walsh

The Lionesses have stormed through the Euros this year to reach the final against Germany and one player has been key to some of their successes, Lucy Bronze.

Scoring once against Sweden in England’s dominant 4-0 victory, Lucy Bronze has had an illustrious career in football so far. However, many may not be aware of her link to Leeds.

She was born in Berwick-upon-Tweed as the daughter of a Portuguese father and an English mother. She was introduced to football aged 10 by older brother Jorge and as they say - the rest is history.

The 30-year-old went to university at Leeds Metropolitan University, now Leeds Beckett University in the city. During her time in Leeds, she worked at a Domino's in Headingley and to celebrate her previous employment, the branch has temporarily renamed itself Lucy's and is giving away free pizza.

Before, she lived all over the country, including Lindisfarne, Belford and Alnwick as well as studying at the University of North Carolina in the United States.

Her footballing career has also taken her all over and she even scored at Elland Road against the Netherlands in June this year. Playing in the position of right-back, she got a goal and an assist against Sweden.

Lucy Bronze has also played for some of the best club sides in women’s football and has won awards. Chief among these is the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year Award which she won in 2019, the first English player ever to do so.

At the time she was playing for French side Olympique Lyonnais where she won three league titles and three Champions League titles in as many years. Now, she has moved to Barcelona where she is sure to impress.

Before, Lucy Bronze played for club teams across England, including Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton and Sunderland. With these teams she has won the Women's Super League a total of three times.

She has played for England since the under-17s but almost opted to play for Portugal, which she was eligible for due to her Portuguese father, after becoming frustrated with the lack of opportunities to break into the England team.

She is now a guaranteed starter in the Lionesses XI and is reportedly dating fellow England star Keira Walsh, who plays for Manchester City. The pair have not gone 'Insta official' with their relationship but have been spotted together in a sweet Instagram selfie on Keira's social media feed, which has fuelled speculation that the pair are an item.
