Who is Laura Wright? The Super League Grand Final singer hailed by fans

The 2019 Super League Grand Final is underway and the atmosphere is spot on at Old Trafford for the contest.

Part of that is due to the supporters of both sides who have created plenty of noise in the build-up and continue to do so during the encounter.

But what preceded the match certainly helped to whip up those emotions as singer Laura Wright sang Jerusalem before kick-off.

It was a fantastic rendition of the song and it certainly was well received by fans at the game and watching from home. But who is Laura Wright? Here is a little lowdown on the singer.

Wright was born in Suffolk, England, and first shot to fame when she was just 14. She is a classical and popular crossover singer who performs classical and operatic music.

She is a regular at rugby union matches, having sung at men's and women's games at Twickenham.

Wright is also a regular at NFL London games and big rugby league events such as the Grand Final.

The 29-year-old has been nominated for a Classical Brit Award during her career and she also went on to receive the PPL Classical Award at the Nordoff Robbins 02 Silver Clef Awards.

It's safe to say rugby league fans were happy with her performance at Old Trafford.
