• Jan-Lennard Struff has reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time, where he is facing world No 1 Jannik Sinner for a place in the semi-finals.
• Struff turned 36 in April and struggled for success in the early stages of his career, but has risen up the rankings in recent years.
• The German star achieved his highest ranking of world No 21 back in June 2023, and he became the third-oldest first-time ATP champion when he beat Taylor Fritz in the BMW Open final in 2024 at the age of 33.
• Struff reached the fourth round of the US Open last year, and has now made it to the last eight at a major for the first time in his career at this year’s Wimbledon.
• He lost the opening set 7-5 against Sinner but managed to push the defending champion hard to prove he was not overawed by the occasion.
