Who is David Colina? The Celtic transfer 'target' and Golden Boy nominee starring for Hajduk Split

Celtic are reportedly in the market for a left-back and one player they have been linked with is David Colina.

Index Sport claim the Parkhead side have made a '€3million' verbal offer for the Hajduk Split youngster.

But the report also suggests the Croatian side are looking for double that amount to sell their prized asset to the Premiership champions.

So who is David Colina?

We had a look at the 20-year-old's young career thus far and why he might have caught the eye of Celtic boss Neil Lennon.

Youth career

Colina came through the ranks with Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Monaco in August 2018. They paid €1.5m to acquire him, but he didn't make any first team appearances for the Ligue 1 side.

Impressive campaign with Hajduk Split

Colina only spent one season in France before moving back to his homeland, this time with Hajduk. Monaco were only able to recoup €700k for the teenager as he penned a four-year contract.

Colina played 23 times last season in all competitions as Hajduk tried to integrate him into the first team. He registered one assist and was praised for making such an immediate impact in his first season of senior football.

Golden Boy nominee

Colina was among the 100 highly-rated prospects nominated for the Golden Boy award.

He and Dinamo's Antonio Marin were the only two youngsters from Croatia who were put up for the prestigious accolade.

International pedigree

Colina has represented Croatia at U17s, U18s and U19s level and has racked up 41 appearances for his country since 2015.

Who else is in the frame?

Lokomotiv Moscow have been credited with interest in Colina as he continues to attract attention across Europe.
