Many combat sports fans and reality-TV lovers will more than likely know the name Aaron Chalmers, but would never tend to associate the same man with both trades.

Geordies and residents of the surrounding areas will remember the 35-year-olds antics on hit MTV series Geordie Shore, before the Toon-born and bred celebrity turned his attention to the world of mixed martial arts.

Here we take a look into the life of 'the choker' from his humble upbringing, through time in the G-Shore house to his present day MMA and boxing career.

Who is Aaron Chalmers?

Aaron Chalmers was born in Newcastle on May 26, 1987. Before shooting to fame with hit MTV series Geordie Shore in the mid-2010s.

Prior to joining the cast of the widely-watched staple, Aaron made his money by working on an offshore oil rig.

Geordie Shore and other TV work

Aaron signed on as a full-time cast member with Geordie Shore during 2014's season eight - the very same series in which fellow housemate Kyle Christie teamed up with the show. Aaron enjoyed four years' worth of partying and making memories on the MTV staple, before finally cutting ties with the show in 2018.

After Geordie Shore, Aaron also went on to feature in season six of Ex On The Beach - appearing as the ex of three cast members in Maisie Gillespie, Zaralena Jackson and Nicola Bass

Mixed Martial Arts

Aaron signed with professional mixed martial arts organisation BAMMA in 2017 - going on to have his first professional MMA fight in May 2017, matched up with Greg Jenkins. Going into the fight, Aaron would train down in Birmingham with now Welterweight UFC Champion, Leon Edwards.

And Aaron would finish his opponent in the very first round via an Americana, before achieving a brutal first round knock out over Alex Thompson in September the same year. His third and final fight with BAMMA came in December 2017, where 'The Joker' would go three for three over Karl Donaldson, finishing his opponent with punches once again in the very first round.

Making waves with BAMMA, Aaron was shortly then picked up by Bellator and matched up with prospect Ashley Griffiths for May 2018. He would bolster his record to 4-0 in the fight itself, finishing Griffiths via a Guillotine in the very first round.

His first MMA loss would come in February of 2019 - finding himself trapped in a heel hook by Corey Browning at Bellator Newcastle to tarnish his at the time perfect record.

He would then go on to beat Fred Freeman and lose a unanimous decision to Austin Clem, before retiring from the sport of mixed martial arts in 2022 with a notable record of 5-2.

Boxing

A week later, Aaron would announce that he was set to try his dab hand in the squared circle. He would make his pro debut at the Liverpool Echo Arena in June, beating Alexander Zeledon on points on the night itself.

Fast forward to 2023 and Aaron Chalmers is set to face off with the greatest boxer of all time in Floyd Mayweather. In a bout which came around as a shock move for Chalmers, he decided to fill in on short notice for Mayweather's original opponent in Liam Harrison - after the Muay Thai fighter pulled out with a knee injury.
