Rapper Kid Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, has officially tied the knot with French fashion designer Lola Abecassis Sartore in a dreamy South of France ceremony that paid homage to the couple's beginnings and their shared love of fashion.
The intimate wedding took place on 28 June 2025 at the luxurious Cap Estel hotel in Èze, not far from where Sartore grew up. According to Vogue, the couple's ceremony was described by the bride as 'the most perfect, flawless, peaceful day', with special nods to their late friend, designer Virgil Abloh, who played a pivotal role in how the couple met.
Love Sparked on the Runway
The pair first crossed paths in 2018 at Virgil Abloh's debut Louis Vuitton show. Sartore was working behind the scenes while Cudi modelled in the show. As Sartore recalled, 'Our eyes met in the chaos, and there was a silent spark. After the show, Scott walked straight up and asked for my number.' That moment sparked a relationship that eventually led to a proposal in Kyoto, Japan, in December 2023.
The proposal was intimate and picturesque. Cudi took Sartore on a romantic tour of temples before renting one just for them to share a quiet sunset and the moment he popped the question. The couple made their relationship public in April 2024 via coordinated Instagram posts, which also served as their engagement announcement.
A South of France Wedding With Fashion at the Forefront
The wedding was carefully curated to reflect both their personalities and their fashion-forward backgrounds. Sartore, formerly a designer at Louis Vuitton and now the head designer at ERL, worked closely with her friend and 'bridesman', Alain Paul, to create her dress. The bespoke gown featured 60 metres of six custom laces, hand-crafted in Paris, and was paired with a mini after-party version inspired by one of Paul's previous runway designs.
Meanwhile, Cudi collaborated with Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent's creative director, to design three distinct looks for the weekend. For the welcome dinner, he wore a pleated white shirt with black sateen trousers. During the ceremony, he opted for a sleek black double-breasted suit with a satin lapel and Chelsea boots. At the after-party, he changed into a crystal-embroidered mousseline top and tailored pants.
Ceremony With a View
The couple exchanged vows in the villa gardens overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, with Pastor Rich officiating. Sartore described the moment as 'a moment out of time where the world stopped', adding that 'it was just us and our love'.
Guests then enjoyed a cocktail hour by the pool while music from BadBadNotGood—the same band playing when the couple met—set the mood. Dinner was held on the lawn under candlelight, with décor kept intentionally minimal to highlight the beauty of the location. A young up-and-coming chef from the hotel led the catering.
The after-party transformed the villa's restaurant into a velvet-draped speakeasy in red and pink tones. Cudi closed out the evening by serenading his new bride with two unreleased tracks from his forthcoming album, which he revealed is inspired by their love story.
Honouring Virgil Abloh
Throughout the celebrations, the couple paid tribute to their late friend Virgil Abloh. In addition to the musical nod, they even had a bounce castle erected in his honour. 'It was a full-circle moment,' Sartore said, remembering how Abloh's show had originally brought them together.
A New Chapter
The wedding comes shortly after Cudi made headlines for his testimony during Sean 'Diddy' Combs' sex-crimes trial, where he alleged that his car exploded following a confrontation involving mutual ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Despite the stress of the legal battle, Cudi thanked fans for their support, saying: 'This is a stressful situation. I'm glad it's behind me. I love y'all, man.'
With the whirlwind now behind them, the couple is enjoying their 'bubble of love', as Sartore described it, reflecting on the day as perfect in every way. 'Looking back, I wouldn't change a thing.'
