Who Arsenal signing Fabio Vieira visited before flying to London for medical to complete transfer

The 2022 summer transfer window is truly underway and Arsenal have now completed the signing of Portugal U21 international Fabio Vieira on a permanent deal.

As revealed by football.london , yesterday, the north Londoners had been tracking Vieira for some time and have moved to conclude a deal just days after announcing the signing of Brazilian Marquinhos who joined from Sao Paulo for a fee of £3m.

Interestingly prior to arriving for his Arsenal medical, Vieira posted on his Instagram account of him at a Salt Bae restaurant in Mykonos.

Vieira will likely come to the Emirates to provide competition for Martin Odegaard but he also gives Mikel Arteta another left-side midfield option.

The 22-year-old is incredibly versatile and his ability to use both feet will help aid the unpredictability of the team.

It's likely that Vieira will probably see most of his initial minutes from the bench as an impact player which should help him adjust to the pace, physically and intensity of the Premier League.

This will be a challenge for Vieira. There is no denying the technical quality installed within his game, possessing brilliant press-resistant traits and creativity but the challenges the Premier League offers are severe, something he would not have experienced in his short career to this date.

It's expected that Vieira will feature in the club's pre-season tour of America where he will be given opportunities to develop chemistry with teammates and become well equipped with what Arteta demands from his players both with and without the ball.

Whilst it's a good start to the window, Arsenal needs to keep pushing to get deals done as early as possible, with Gabriel Jesus and Youri Tielemans both seen as the club's top targets in this window.
