Who are your local heroes? Queen's honour list by area as Rio Ferdinand made OBE

The Queen has named her list of worthy recipients for her birthday honours in her Platinum Jubilee year.

Famous recipients include an MBE for footballers Gareth Bale and James Milner and an OBE for former England and Manchester United man Rio Ferdinand.

Author Ian Rankin has been given a knighthood, while there's a damehood for former Northern Ireland First Minister Arlene Foster

To be part of the Queen's honours list is no mean feat and those awarded by Her Majesty are in for a grand day when receiving their special recognitions.

Anything from knighthoods to MBEs are given out to Britain's best sports stars, charity workers, politicians, authors and anyone else of significance.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "The honours she confers this week reflect many of those qualities that have been invaluable from all different walks of life and to communities across the UK.

"I pay tribute to all of this year’s winners. Their stories of courage and compassion are an inspiration to us all."

The below is not a full list of the honours, which can be seen here. So who are your local heroes?
