Being the last of her siblings to pursue acting, Blake Lively hails from a family that is heavily involved in the movie industry.
She attended the acting lessons her parents taught throughout her youth because they didn't want to leave her in the care of another person. She starred in her father's 1998 film Sandman, her first professional acting role, at the age of 10.
She originally dreamt of attending Stanford University instead of pursuing a career in acting, however, her older brother requested that she be sent to multiple auditions by his talent agent. And the rest is history.
Blake’s dad Ernie Lively
Ernie began his acting career in the 1970s with roles on TV shows such as The Waltons, McCloud, Fantasy Island, Fame and Falcon Crest.
He has starred in a number of well-known films over the years, including Turner & Hooch, Quantum Leap, Passenger 57, Murder, She Wrote, and The West Wing.
He also co-starred with Blake in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (2005) and its 2008 follow-up, where he played her on-screen father.
Ernie was born Ernie Brown, but later adopted the Lively last name after marrying his wife.

Elaine is an actress and talent manager.
In April, Blake revealed at an acceptance speech at the Time100 Gala in New York that her mother was assaulted by a co-worker years before she was born.
Lively said that at her mother’s “urging and unwavering bravery, she wanted me to share with you that she is a survivor of the worst crimes someone can commit against a woman.”
The Gossip Girl alum added: “She never received justice from her work acquaintance who tried to kill her when she was the mother of three young children — years before I was born.”
Elaine grew up in Tallapoosa, Georgia, a little town close to the Alabama border in the US.
In July 2014, Blake told Vogue, “My mother had very humble beginnings — to put it mildly.
“Her dad built their home out of timber that he cut down on their land. No heat, no air-conditioning — no foolishness, as he would call it. She worked in the fields from sunup to sundown, from the time she could walk. She’s strong as an ox. She learned how to break a chicken’s neck and pluck the feathers when she was a little girl.
Elaine married Blake’s father Ernie in 1979. She had previously been married to Ron Lively, with whom she had three children.
Lori Lively
Lori, the oldest of Elaine and Ronnie's three children, was born in 1966 and she is also an actress.
Working Girl, The Bold and the Beautiful, Melrose Place, ER, Two and a Half Men, and The Mentalist are just a few of the TV series and films in which Lori has starred over the years.
In August 2024, Lori, Elaine, and Robyn accompanied Blake on the red carpet at the It Ends With Us premiere in New York City.
In an Instagram post, she wrote: “The only thing I loved more than celebrating this magical night with my sister and family was seeing her in this film.
“If you thought you loved her before, it won’t compare to how you’ll feel after experiencing the pain and joy that she brings to this role. It embodies all that she is in the most beautiful way.”
Jason Lively
In 1968, Elaine and Ron became parents to their second child Jason.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Jason made appearances in a variety of television programs and motion pictures, such as Class of Fear, 21 Jump Street, and The Dukes of Hazzard.
After making an appearance in the 1993 video game Return to Zork, he took a short hiatus from acting.
According to IMDb, his most recent credits are the 2017 motion pictures Hickok and The Possessed.
He is married to Lani Lovely, and the pair reportedly share three children.
Robyn Lively
Elaine and Ron's youngest child, Robyn, was born in 1972.
Robyn's breakthrough performance as Louise Miller in the 1989 movie Teen Witch came after a string of tiny TV roles.
Her roles in The Karate Kid Part III, Twin Peaks, Doogie Howser, M.D., Chicago Hope, Savannah, JAG, Letters to God, 9-1-1: Lone Star, and Landman have contributed to her long Hollywood career.
In 1999, she and fellow actor Bart Johnson got married. The couple have a daughter named Kate and two sons, Wyatt and Baylen.
Following Blake's ongoing lawsuit against Justin Baldoni in December 2024, the couple each posted supportive words for Blake.
Robyn shared photos of The New York Times piece on the lawsuit on her Instagram story at the time, writing, “FINALLY justice for my sister @blakelively.”
Eric Lively
In 1981, Elaine and Ernie became parents to their first child.
Eric started his acting career in the early 1990s, playing parts in Full House, American Pie, and So Weird, just like his parents and siblings did before him.
He has starred in television series and films in recent years, including BFFs, The L Word, A Minute With Stan Hooper, Modern Men, and A Madea Christmas.
