Whitney Leavitt Has Officially Quit Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Just After S5 Resumed Filming

Whitney Leavitt

Whitney Leavitt is officially clocking off The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (yet again) amid a tumultuous period for the spicy series.

The reality star–turned–Broadway performer has confirmed she’s leaving the Hulu series, announcing the news during her final Chicago performance on Sunday.

An insider confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing Leavitt is stepping away from the cast after being a full-time fixture since the show’s 2024 debut.

While it’s unclear why she’s leaving the show, one can only assume it’s ‘cos of the Ariana Madix and Lisa Rinna effect, AKA reality stars launching solo endeavours that negate their need to continue on the drama-filled shows that propelled them into the spotlight.

Fresh off a standout run on Dancing With the Stars, Leavitt’s been busy levelling up her career, from playing Roxie Hart on stage (a role previously portrayed by both Madix and Rinna) to lining up her feature film debut in a holiday rom-com she’s also executive producing later this year.

During her run in Chicago, the musical reportedly pulled in its highest grosses yet. After extending her stint, Leavitt was even joined onstage by her Dancing With the Stars partner Mark Ballas for select performances, before wrapping things up on Sunday.

Her exit also comes at a chaotic moment for Mormon Wives. Production was paused back in March following an internal investigation involving cast members Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen, though filming is now set to resume.

Cameras had already been rolling on season five before production hit pause, with the cast even popping in to support Leavitt during her February run in Chicago. Whether she’ll return as a full-time cast member beyond season five or just make a guest appearance is still up in the air.

Leavitt had already hinted this move was coming, too. In a March interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said she was shifting focus toward acting and figuring out what her future with the reality series would look like.

“I’m figuring it out in real time,” Leavitt said in March. “We’re figuring it out together, but it feels like that’s the trajectory of where it’s going. But again, I wouldn’t be where I am without it, but it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show.”
