White House Task Force chiefs: Tartan Army to go through unprecedented security

White House Task Force chiefs have revealed the Tartan Army will have to go through unprecedented levels of security for their World Cup match in Miami, including five separate checks to get into the stadium.

Scotland face Brazil in their final group game in Florida, after playing in Boston against Haiti and Morocco in their opening two matches.

The Hard Rock Stadium in Miami will host the showdown and that's the venue with the highest levels of security at the World Cup after a major incident two years ago when fans stormed the stadium and gained entry to the Copa America Final between Argentina and Colombia.

And Andrew Giuliani, executive director of the White House Task Force assigned to the World Cup, made it clear they have seriously beefed up levels of security for when Scotland play in Miami.

He said: "We want people to be able to come here and enjoy this World Cup while also making sure we can keep the country safe.

"I would advise ticket holders to prepare for five separate security checkpoints at Miami's stadium and I would recommend they arrive early.

"I think we have an amazing story of preparedness to tell here for the World Cup

"Sites will be set up similar from a safety and security perspective to the Super Bowl. You’ll see multiple checks for tickets.

"We want to make sure that anybody who is getting into and certainly near the stadium, as well, that they have a ticket, that way we can prevent any security issues.

"The security improvements also include investment to stop any drone threats.

"There’s a three-mile temporary flight restriction around the stadium. Zero tolerance policy. This is not the time to go and put your drone up there and take a video of what’s going. They will be confiscated and there will be consequences.

"The World Cup is the first major Olympic-style sporting event held in the United States with post-9/11 attack security procedures in place."
