White House claims abused women are only reporting domestic beatings ‘to undermine the great work’ of Donald Trump

Even by Donald Trump‘s low standards, saying that he doesn’t think domestic violence is a crime is truly despicable. Controversy erupted yesterday after he boasted to journalists about how his invasion of Washington, DC had reduced crime to “virtually nothing”.

But Trump was clearly sore that he couldn’t claim it was actually nothing (not sure why he didn’t just lie about this as usual, but whatever). The fly in his ointment? Those pesky abused women calling the cops on their partners!

“Much lesser things, things that take place in the home they call crime, you know. They’ll do anything they can to find something. If a man has a little fight with the wife, they say this was a crime see, so now I can’t claim 100%.”

Donald, buddy, they don’t “say” this was a crime. It literally “IS” a crime. Once people had scooped their jaws off the floor, condemnation came swiftly, with many pointing out that Trump himself was accused of domestic violence by his first wife, Ivana Trump (current status: buried on his golf course).

How can she bear to look at herself in the mirror?

Most presidents would actually feel a little shame about this and issue some kind of apology, or even just say their words had been misinterpreted. But Trump isn’t just any president! And so Karoline Leavitt was given the official line sent out to meet the press. When a reporter asked what crimes Trump was referring to, she said:

“What the president is saying is that these crimes were being made up and reported as a crime to undermine the great work that the federal taskforce is doing to reduce crime in Washington, DC.”

Hold up. So, the White House’s official line on this is that DC crime figures are being intentionally manipulated by a cabal of sinister women calling in fake domestic violence reports to the cops. That’s really what you’re going with?

First up, that’s not happening. Second, how on Earth would this even work!? Are these sinister Trump-hating women so eager to spoil Dear Leader’s crime stats that they’re willing to throw their partners under the bus and falsely accuse them of beating them?

Karoline Leavitt wears her cross to press conferences, prays before she enters the room to ask God for strength, and has repeatedly said her faith is central to her role as White House press secretary. But when she gets to the pearly gates, we suspect St. Peter is going to have some serious words for her, right before he yanks the big lever that opens the trapdoor.
