Easter weekend is almost upon us and supermarkets across the UK have been updating their opening hours in preparation.
Traditionally, many supermarkets close their doors on Easter Sunday due to trading laws, but don’t worry if you end up needing some last minute bits as some stores will remain open.
Supermarket giants Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi and Waitrose have confirmed their stores will be closed this Easter Sunday, reports the Mirror.
Trading laws in England mean large retailers, those of more than 280 square metres, cannot trade on Easter Sunday.
This is the same law that prohibits trading on Christmas Day.

However, smaller, convenience stores, such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s are allowed to trade to allow customers to pick up essential items.
Which supermarkets are closed on Easter Sunday?
Waitrose & Partners shops in England and Wales will close on Easter Sunday.
All Aldi and Lidl stores in England will close on April 4 too, along with all Morrisons stores.
This Easter Sunday, Tesco Superstores, Extra and Metro stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be closed.
Larger Sainsbury’s stores will also be closed. M&S will close the majority of stores but those in busier areas will remain open - you can check if your local is included here.

Tesco Express stores will open as usual on Easter Sunday
