Which channel will show FIFA World Cup in India? Where to watch matches live

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to begin with host nation Mexico facing South Africa on June 12, as fans across the globe prepare for one of the most anticipated tournaments in football history.

The 23rd edition of the men’s FIFA World Cup will be the biggest ever, featuring a record-breaking expansion to 48 teams. This change will result in 104 matches played across 16 host cities spread across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The expanded format has also increased overall player participation, making this edition larger in scale than any previous tournament.

As part of its new sports broadcasting lineup, ZEE will introduce Unite8 Sports 1 and Unite8 Sports 1 HD in Hindi, along with Unite8 Sports 2 and Unite8 Sports 2 HD in English, all dedicated to sports coverage. In addition, fans will be able to stream FIFA World Cup matches on the Zee5 app and website.

Match Timings for Indian Viewers

Due to matches being hosted across multiple cities and time zones in North America, kick-off timings will vary for audiences in India.

Some of the expected start times include:

Atlanta matches: 9:30 pm IST

Dallas and Houston matches: 10:30 pm IST

San Francisco, Vancouver and Monterrey matches: up to 9:30 am IST

Where to watch FIFA world cup free

Football fans in India will be able to watch selected FIFA World Cup 2026 matches for free on DD Sports via DD Free Dish. Doordarshan Sports has confirmed that it will air key fixtures from the tournament, offering a free-to-air viewing option for those without access to Zee channels or a Zee5 subscription.

Opening Match Coverage

DD Sports will broadcast the tournament opener between Mexico and South Africa. In India, the match will be telecast at 12:30 AM IST on June 12.

Knockout Stage Telecast Schedule

In addition to the opening game, DD Sports will also air major knockout matches from the tournament. The confirmed fixtures include:

  • Quarter-finals: July 9, 10 and 11
  • Semi-finals: July 14 and 15
  • Final: July 19
