Which businesses will be able to reopen from March 29 in next step out of England lockdown

England is poised to cautiously take its next step on the roadmap out of lockdown on Monday, meaning a few more industries can reopen after months of closure.

March 29 is the second date for Boris Johnson's route out of lockdown plans, which will see a few more of the rules relaxed slightly.

As well as a limited number of industries being allowed to reopen, rules around social contact will be relaxed ever so slightly too, with the rule of six returning.

This means six people, or two households, will be allowed to meet outside in public places or private gardens.

On Monday, it will have been three weeks since England took its first step on the roadmap to open schools on March 8, seeing pupils and staff face regular rapid flow testing.

Since then, a number of schools across Nottinghamshire have seen confirmed cases closing class bubbles, meaning pupils and staff having to self-isolate for 10 days.

But as of Monday, March 29, outdoor sports facilities, including water sport venues, will be given the green light to reopen

The businesses allowed to reopen on March 29

  • Outdoor swimming pools
  • Tennis courts
  • Golf courses, including driving ranges
  • Basketball courts
  • Climbing walls
  • Riding centres

Other businesses, including indoor sports centres such as gyms, non-essential retail and hairdressers will have to remain closed for now, with an expected reopening date of April 12, subject to the Government's roadmap tests being met.

Pubs will also be able to serve punters outdoors from this date.

Meanwhile, indoor exercise classes are banned until mid-May.

The Government hopes to be able to lift all social distancing measures and restrictions from June 21, when nightlife venues such as clubs and concert venues hoping to be able to open their doors.
