Where the Friends' child stars are now - from Ben and Emma to Phoebe's triplets

From Disney's Cole Sprouse to Twilight's Dakota Fanning, the unrivalled success of Friends meant the six main stars weren't the only ones to find fame after the iconic sitcom.

Over the years, lots of young actors who appeared on the show, playing Ross' son Ben, Rachel's daughter Emma and Phoebe's triplets, nabbed starring roles in Hollywood films and popular series.

Nearly two decades after the hit show aired, we take a look back at where they all are now. Be prepared to feel very, very old as they're around the same age as Chandler, Joey and Ross were filming Friends.

Ben

Four different boys played Ben during the course of the show, beginning with Michael Gunderson who was Baby Ben.

Twins Charles and John Allen took up the role, before Cole Sprouse was cast - playing the character when he took on a bigger role.

When the show finished Cole carried on acting, landing a part in Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack and Cody with his brother Dylan.

They reportedly earned $40,000 (£32,000) per episode, and they also appeared in Miley Cyrus ' show Hannah Montana.

A few years later, Cole studied archaeology (Ross would be proud) at New York University, graduating in 2015.

Cole has also admitted that he had a huge crush on Jennifer Aniston when he was on Friends.

He told the New York Post: "I had a really, really hard time working with Aniston because I was so in love with her. I was infatuated.

"I was speechless - I'd get all bubbly and forget my lines and completely blank. It was so difficult."

Aged 30, Cole is one of the leads on Riverdale and he recently hit out at his estranged mother Melanie for "pushing him into acting".

On Steven Bartlett's Diary of a CEO, he said: "It made a lot of financial sense for her to push us into acting. I think it satisfied some sort of narcissism she probably had in order to be recognised as some sort of artistic success."

Emma

Rachel and Ross's drunken night sorting out Monica and Chandler's wedding invitations resulted in baby Emma joining the cast.

Three sets of twins played little Emma at different stages of her life. Elizabeth and Genevieve Davidson were up first when she was a newborn, followed by Alexandra and Athina Conley.

But the older Emma was played by Cali and Noelle Sheldon, who shocked when they shared a recent photo to mark the show's 25th anniversary.

The actresses previously revealed that they weren't allowed to watch Friends until they were 13 and confessed: "I don't remember anything about being on the show, but I've seen the pictures."

Their mum Gretchen Carpenter also told Bustle : "Everyone was really, really nice to Noelle and Cali, and treated them like little princesses on the set."

The twins have continued acting and last year starred in Jordan Peele's film Us, alongside Black Panther stars Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke.

Although they still attend auditions, Cali has said her dream is to become a biochemist, explaining she wants to "become a chemist and cure cancer".

Owen

Daryl Sabara played Owen in Friends and starred in Spy Kids movies (Warner Bros.)

Remember when Chandler accidentally told Phoebe's friend's son he was adopted? Well, poor Owen was played by Daryl Sabara who has gone on to be the biggest star since Friends.

He played Juni Cortez in the Spy Kids movies and was Robin William's son in the comedy series World's Greatest Dad.

He was also a judge on US reality show America's Most Talented Kid, before he married pop star Meghan Trainor in December 2018.

The couple welcomed their first child, a son called Riley, in 2021 and announced two months ago that they are expecting their second child.

Meghan is "extra obsessed" with her hubby and says Daryl is "extra romantic about everything".

The 30-year-old has 629,000 followers on Instagram and while he has numerous accolades, prefers to be known as 'Riley's dad'.

Sarah

Mae Whitman played little Sarah in Friends alongside Ross (Warner Bros.)

In one of the show's more bizarre storylines, Ross becomes an honorary Brown Bird after accidentally breaking little Sarah Tuttle's leg.

He goes on a mission to sell enough cookies to win her a space at space camp, but fails so she ends up at a questionable alternative in Joey and Chandler's apartment.

Mae Whitman played the role, and she's gone on to have a successful acting career, appearing in Arrested Development and Good Girls.

She's also had roles on the big screen, including a part in The Perks of Being a Wallflower alongside Emma Watson.

The 34-year-old has established herself as a voice actor and has starred in The Jungle Book 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Young Justice.

Her new Hulu show Up Here will see her doing something new and "terrifying" - singing.

Mae told The Post: "When it comes to singing, it feels like I'm baring my soul and being completely vulnerable and terrified. So, it's why I wanted to do this job."

Mackenzie

Dakota Fanning played Mackenzie in the hit sitcom two decades ago (Warner Bros.)

Dakota Fanning played the very wise little girl who convinced Joey it wasn't so bad that Chandler and Monica were moving out of the city.

The 29-year-old has had a number of big roles since, including Twilight, Ocean's 8, War of the Worlds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

She was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role in I Am Sam when she was just eight, making her the youngest nominee in history.

Having acted since the age of five, Dakota is perhaps the most famous child star to come out of Friends, with 3.7 million followers on Instagram.

Phoebe's triplets

Way back in season four, Phoebe acted as surrogate for her brother Frank and his wife Alice.

Babies Leslie, Chandler and Frank Jr Jr weren't credited, however the kids who played them when Monica and Chandler attempt to look after them in season six are quadruplets Alexandria, Cole, Justin and Paul Cimoch.

The siblings delighted fans when a photo of their high school graduation was shared on social media, showing them all standing with their arms around each other in their robes.

Alexandria, who has over 20,000 followers on TikTok, revealed that they are all off to different colleges but are still closer than ever.
