Most people now have Ohio State into the NCAA Tournament after the bubble-eliminating win against Indiana. But what seed will the Buckeyes get, and where might they play?
We’ll no for sure later today when the selection committed unveils the brackets, but for now, here are the main possibilities.
Most brackets have OSU as a No. 11 seed. So we can start there. You know this by now if you’re even the casual March Madness fan, but there are four regions, meaning just four places Ohio State could go. Again, if they are indeed a No. 11 seed. So here are the four different places>
Dayton, Tuesday March 19
It’s possible Ohio State could be one of the eleven seeds that have to play in through the Dayton region. Right now, that’s not the thought, but it is a possibility. If so, those games would take place Tuesday and Wednesday, with the winners then being placed into one of the No. 11 seeded slots on the main bracket.
So, from there it could go to one of just a three places. And either way it goes, it looks like traveling a bit is going to be a reality …
Next, travel destinations in the so-called second round
Tulsa, Oklahoma
If Ohio State is a part of the first four and wins that matchup, it could go to Tulsa to play against a No. 6 seed. It also could go straight to Tulsa as one of the last byes and not have to do a play in game. There are actually three No. 11 vs. No. 6 seeded games being hosted in Tulsa. So this is one of your most likely destinations for the Buckeyes.
Des Moines, Iowa
The other play-in No. 11 seed matchup funnels into Des Moines. Iowa will be familiar to Buckeye fans, but it’s a quite a bit further west than Iowa City.
Hartford, Connecticut
Hartford also plays host for a No. 11 vs. No. 6 matchup and could host Ohio State. If you’ve never been to the northeast, then maybe this would be appealing.
Time to keep an eye on what happens with the selection committee later today, but I think it’s a pretty safe bet that the Buckeyes are locked into a No. 11 seed, so that’s where things stand. Things could change though, because the committee likes to surprise folks.
