Where 591 new coronavirus cases have been recorded over past day in Nottinghamshire

There have been 591 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours across the county.

The latest figures also show there have been 171 new Covid cases in the city.

The latest daily increase is lower than that seen yesterday, however, when 737 new cases were recorded.

Overall, there has now been 59,568 positive tests across the city and the county since the start of the pandemic.

The latest data was published by the Government at 4.50pm on Tuesday, January 12.

Here is the breakdown for each part of Nottinghamshire:

Ashfield - 6,197 (increase of 98)

Bassetlaw - 5,519 (increase of 48)

Broxtowe - 4,893 (increase of 50)

Gedling - 5,647 (increase of 55)

Mansfield - 4,978 (increase of 72)

Newark and Sherwood - 4,805 (increase of 42)

Nottingham - 22,598 (increase of 171)

Rushcliffe - 4,931 (increase of 55)

It comes as the Home Secretary Priti Patel warned the public that police will fine any Covid-19 rule breakers.

She said: “My message today to anyone refusing to do the right thing is simple: if you do not play your part our selfless police officers – who are out there risking their own lives every day to keep us safe – they will enforce the regulations.

“And I will back them to do so, to protect our NHS and to save lives.”

She added: “We are now at a critical stage in our battle against this virus.

“To protect those that you care about, and the capacity of our hospitals to protect us all, please stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.”

Police patrols will be increased across the country in an attempt to catch those not following the restrictions put in place by the government.
