When the late actor Dilip Kumar refused to slap Anupam Kher for a scene in 'Karma'

One of Bollywood's iconic films, 'Karma' starring the late actor Dilip Kumar, Nutan, Jackie Shroff, Nasseruddin Shah, Sridevi, Anupam Kher still remains close to the hearts of many. This Subhash Ghai directorial has a scene where high ranking police officer Rana Vishwa Pratap Singh (Dilip Kumar) slaps the head of a major terrorist organisation, Dr. Dang, played by Anupam Kher.

While this particular scene grabbed major eyeballs, there was an interesting tale that took place behind it. Anupam Kher today revealed it in an exclusive conversation with Times Now. Accordingly, he had asked the 'Tragedy King' to actually slap him for the scene to get the real feel; however the thespian refused to do the same and in fact amused the 'Saaransh' actor with his words.

While narrating the incident Anupam Kher says, " While we were about to shoot the scene, I had a long dialogue scene after which Dilip Saab slaps me and to get the real feel of scene as I belonged to theatres, I asked him to slap me in real to which the late actor denied and smilingly said, 'yeh pathan ka haath hai.. if I slap you in real, you will remember it for the lifetime, so just act, I will not slap you'. "

Kher also revealed that 'Karma' remains his mother's favourite film. He also shared that while shooting with Dilip Kumar it was like being with an institution or a university of acting. Anupam also opened up about Dilip Kumar's method acting and how every actor from Bollywood is inspired by his acting.
