When Rangers are back for pre-season as return date revealed

Rangers will return for pre-season training on June 23, as revealed by Nicolas Raskin.

Gers' players will get a break of just over a month after yesterday's season ending draw with Hibs at Easter Road.

And they'll be back in on the Monday towards the end of next month as they look to get a head start on preparations for the second qualifying round of the Champions League.

They will have a month to prepare for that with the first leg on July 22 or 23 and the second leg a week later. The draw will be made on June 18.

The Scottish Premiership campaign will kick off on the weekend of August 2 and 3 with Rangers hoping to have a much more productive season than the one just gone.

Raskin revealed the return date when he was asked about getting clarity on the US takeover.

Will Still 'rejects' Rangers manager chance with English sides lining him up

He said: “Yeah, it's always better. We're coming back on the 23rd of June, so it's not that far away.

“So we need to plan the pre-season and all this. So, yeah, it's always better.

“We all know the situation. We've seen some people coming into the building, but we've not really had any talks.

“So we're just waiting to see how we're going to go.”

It remains unclear who the Rangers manager will be with strong links to outgoing Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti but some other names in the frame.

Current interim Barry Ferguson isn't giving up hope of landing the gig permanently.

Speaking after yesterday's draw, he said: “I hope it’s not my last game but we’ll see over the next couple of days.

“I know I can do the job if I get the right tools. I know I can change it.

We’ll see what happens in the coming days. It’s a massive job but it doesn’t scare me one bit.

“It’s a brilliant, exciting job but there’s a fair bit of work to be done. Not just with the playing staff but around the training ground as well.

“The process will start straight away because we need to build for next season. This season has been way off in terms of the standards required.

“There’s a lot of work to do, loan players going away, players running out of contract.

“We know what’s happened with Rangers players in the last couple of years with players running contracts down. That can’t be allowed to happen.

“When do I expect clarity on the situation? Hopefully in the next couple of days.”
