When Manchester United's Daniel James transfer should be completed

Manchester United may have to wait until the middle of June to seal their first summer signing, with the wheels well in motion to bring in Daniel James from Swansea.

MEN Sport understands terms have been agreed with James to secure his switch to Old Trafford, though the transfer was put on hold due to the recent and tragic death of the 21-year-old's father, Kevan.

United, Swansea City and Wales — with whom James has now linked up ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary — have all given James time to grieve, with the funeral expected to take place early next week.

United legend and Welsh boss that James chose to meet up with his international colleagues, after initially withdrawing from a training camp in Portugal after the personal tragedy.

"Obviously it's terrible what has happened,"

"I spoke to Dan. He is really keen to meet up, he is really keen to be involved in the games. I said we would touch base again this week."

Wales travel to Croatia for a Group E qualifier on June 8th before a game in Hungary on Tuesday 11th, with James now available and likely to feature in both matches.

It is therefore likely to be after those games that United are able to confirm a transfer for the Welsh winger, with the fee believed to be in the region of £15million to £20million.

United are chasing other deals and are believed to be keen on signing Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and West Ham's Declan Rice, among others. Those transfers could take time, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's preference for completing as much business as possible before United head out to Australia, China and Singapore on their pre-season tour, with the first match in Perth on July 13.
