Liverpool's fixture against Wolves this weekend has been postponed following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Premier League has confirmed.
The governing body met this morning following official guidance from the Government. A statement titled National Mourning Guidance released by the Government said there was "no obligation to cancel or postpone events and sporting fixtures, or close entertainment venues during the National Mourning period", putting decisions down to the "discretion of individual organisations."
However, the Premier League have now confirmed the 10 scheduled matches will not go ahead this weekend. They said in a statement : "At a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed, including Monday evening’s game."

The league added: "Further updates regarding Premier League fixtures during the period of mourning will be provided in due course."
There is currently no official word on whether next week's Champions League match against Ajax at Anfield will go ahead, or whether next weekend's league games will also be postponed with Liverpool set to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Although the ECHO understands the club are still planning for Tuesday night's Champions League clash as normal, at this stage.
But with an intense fixture schedule this season, when could the postponed game against Wolves be played? As it stands, Liverpool currently do not have a free midweek until January, with the World Cup in November and December causing a condensed schedule for the remainder of the year.
The fourth round of the Carabao Cup is currently scheduled to take place the week commencing 19 December 2022, so should Liverpool get knocked out by Derby County in the third round of the Carabao Cup in early November, and Wolves also get knocked out by Leeds United in their respective match, that week could present the earliest opportunity for the game to be rescheduled. Likewise, a gap may appear when the fifth round of the competition takes place on the week commencing January 9, 2023.
However, the Premier League may opt to reschedule the entire matchweek with all 10 games taking place around the same time. The earliest opportunity, with no other competitions or matches taking place, is currently the week commencing January 16, 2023. The next free midweek, if either team are to progress to the latter stages of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, would likely be the week commencing February 6, 2023.
It remains to be seen if the Premier League may explore the possibility of introducing an extra round of fixtures between Boxing Day and New Year, or between the Carabao ties in December and Christmas Day itself.
