As well as confirming the date of Her Majesty's funeral, King Charles III also announced that this date will be a national Bank Holiday. The UK Government have said that schools will not be required to open on this day.

Charles was officially proclaimed as King at the Accession Council, following the death of his mother just days ago. During the Accession Council at St James's Palace in London, the King approved an order that made the day of the Queen's funeral a bank holiday across the UK.
