
Sally Rooney’s critically acclaimed Normal People is receiving a television adaptation, bringing the story of Connell and Marianne’s complicated romance to the small screen.
After it was announced in May last year, fans of the multi-award-winning novel have been looking forward to seeing how Rooney’s melancholy yet hopeful depiction of young love will be played out.
Now, with its release just around the corner, here’s everything you need to know about the BBC’s adaptation...
When is Normal People on BBC Three?
We don’t have long left to wait, with the full series to be released as a box set dropping on BBC’s iPlayer channel, BBC Three, on Sunday April 26.
BBC One will also broadcast a double-bill of episodes at 9pm every Monday from April 27.
Who is in the cast of Normal People?

Set in the Republic of Ireland, Normal People has a predominantly Irish cast.
Marianne will be played as Daisy Edgar-Jones, who previously appeared in Cold Feet and Silent Witness.
Her more recent prominent roles include playing Delia Rawson is BBC One drama Gentleman Jack and Emily in the delayed sci-fi series War of the Worlds.
Newcomer Paul Mescal, who is best-known for his theatre work, will play the self-assured Connell.
Dublin Murders star Sarah Greene appears as Lorraine, while former Skins actor Sebastian de Souza stars as Gareth.
What is Normal People about? Is it based on a true story?
For those who are yet to read Sally Rooney’s bestselling book, Normal People follows fictional teenagers Marianne and Connell.
At school, Marianne is a well-off and intelligent, yet socially awkward and popular. She crosses paths with the less wealthy but equally as intelligent and highly popular Connell after his mother is hired to be a cleaner at her house.
The pair start a secret relationship away from the knowledge of their peers.
Under recommendations from Marianne, Connell decides to apply to Trinity College Dublin – but while Marianne flourishes at college, Connell finds himself struggling. Normal People follows their journey as they fall in and out of love as they grow older.
