Following the footsteps of the likes of The Bear and The Hare, Moz The Monster and The Man on the Moon, Unexpected Guest got its grand unveiling online early on Thursday morning.
It caused a stir on Good Morning Britain, when a political debate was cut short to give viewers a first look, while searches on who is the singer of this year's song surged on Google.
Thios year's John Lewis advert tells the story of space traveller Skye who crash-lands at the height of festivities in the woods near the home of 14-year-old Nathan, who introduces her to the traditions of eating mince pies, decorating the tree and, to her slight confusion, wearing novelty jumpers.

It is soundtracked by a slowed down cover of 80s anthem Together in Electric Dreams by London singer Lola Young.
When is the John Lewis advert on TV?
Unexpected Guest will get its TV debut at 8.15pm on Thursday on ITV during The Pride of Britain Awards, during the annual event's first commercial break.
With Pride of Britain always one of the most watched TV shows of the year, a huge audience are set to witness its TV premiere.
John Lewis customer director Claire Pointon said: “There is nothing more magical than discovering the joy of Christmas for the first time and enjoying your favourite festive moments with loved ones.
“After the last 18 months, we wanted our advert to really celebrate this as we look forward to a brighter future."
