When is Friday's Coronation Street on ITV? Soap to air extra episode after cancellation

Coronation Street fans were disappointing on Friday when their hour-long fix was cancelled.

The ITV soap remained off-air on April 9 following the death of Duke of Edinburgh.

Prince Philip "peacefully" passed away at Windsor Castle aged 99, months before he was due to celebrate his 100th birthday in June.

The Countess of Wessex said the duke's death was so peaceful "it was like someone took him by the hand and off he went."

Edward, the Queen and Philip’s youngest child, said his father’s death had been "a terrible shock".

The nation is now in a period of national mourning until after Prince Philip's funeral takes place on Saturday (April 17).

As a result of the news on Friday, ITV and BBC completely rearranged their television schedule to accommodate special extended news programmes and other tributes to the duke.

This meant both of ITV's major soaps, Emmerdale and Coronation Street were taken off air.

So, when will Friday's Corrie air?

The two episodes set to air tonight (Monday) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm will be what would have aired on Friday.

Emmerdale will also air an extra episode this week (ITV)

Then on Tuesday night, when Coronation Street would normally be off-air, Monday's double bill will be put together for an hour-long special.

And there's a big week to come in Weatherfield with time is running out for ailing Peter Barlow as he prepares to marry the love of his life Carla Connor.

Elsewhere, Michael Bailey explains to his brother James that he went ahead with the DNA test to find out if Ronnie is his real dad and he’s expecting the results.

Similarly, Emmerdale will air what would have been Monday's episode alongside Tuesday's in an hour long special on Tuesday from 7pm until 8pm.
