When does Ikea open in Wales? Latest from Cardiff store

Many people have been wondering when Ikea opens again as non-essential retail starts back up in Wales.

Supermarkets and shops already open in Wales were able to take down the tape which has covered non-essential items for months on Monday, March 22, while garden centres were also able to re-open for the first time this year.

The restrictions lifting on the sale of items in stores already open in lockdown, however, comes before non-essential stores in Wales can open their doors.

Independent shops and big high street brands will remain closed for the next three weeks as the Welsh Government adopts a careful and cautious approach to the easing of lockdown. You can read shop owners' reaction to this here.

Then "if the public health situation remains positive," all shops will be able to open from April 12, which is the same as England.

It had previously been suggested that non-essential retail could open on March 15 in line with hairdressers, but during the latest review the Welsh Government announced businesses will have to wait longer before re-opening.

When will Ikea in Wales reopen?

For Ikea shoppers, the Cardiff store is temporarily closed, although it has been operating home deliveries as well as a click and collect service with thorough safety measures in place throughout lockdown.

This is what Ikea has said about when it will re-open in Wales and what customers can expect.

An Ikea spokesperson told WalesOnline: "For a number of weeks we have been working towards ensuring our store is ready to safely welcome back customers.

"Now that we have a clear date, albeit later than we'd hoped-for, we look forward to reopening our Cardiff store on 12th April.

"With life at home more important than ever, our store will be ready to welcome customers back, with extensive measures in place to help ensure the safety of our customers and co-workers."
