When does Freeze the Fear start on BBC and what is the new series about?

Freeze The Fear is a challenging new series hosted by comedian Lee Mack and TV presenter Holly Willoughby, alongside Wim Hof aka 'The Iceman', that is set to air on BBC. It will also feature eight other celebrities.

These well-known names are Patrice Evra, Gabby Logan, Alfie Boe, Tamzin Outhwaite, Owain Wyn Evans, Dianne Buswell, Professor Green and Chelcee Grimes. Each of them are taking part for different personal reasons.

Wim Hofman is a Dutch extreme athlete, nicknamed ‘’The Iceman’’ by breaking several records related to cold exposure including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in shorts, running a half marathon above the Arctic Circle barefoot, and standing in a container while covered with ice cubes for more than 112 minutes.

Hofman’s motto is "what I am capable of, everybody can learn".

When does Freeze the Fear start on BBC?

Freeze The Fear will air on BBC One from Tuesday, April 12, 2022. It should also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer after airing.

What is Freeze the Fear about?

Freeze the Fear follows eight celebrities as they give up their warm cosy lives to live in the Italian mountains in sub-zero conditions. The BBC show will have Wim Hofman guiding the eight celebrities participating in the challenge.

The Iceman believes that embracing the cold can change their lives for the better and the candidates hope to leave the challenge feeling happier, healthier and stronger.

When asked what he found most surprising about the challenges, Alfie Boe said: "I was surprised at how much I could take. The challenge I really wanted to master was staying in the lake for as long as possible. We were told to sit in it for four minutes but somehow I stayed there for 10."

Patrice Evra said: "The part of the experience that I found the hardest was being away from my woman, Margaux and my baby Lilas, I’ll be honest with you. But also the hardest part was for me was to say no to a challenge."
