When and where you can see plane carrying Queen's coffin flying over Britain today

Brits may be able to spot the plane carrying the Queen's coffin as it flies over the UK en-route to the capital today.

There are several routes the plane carrying Her Majesty could take as it travels from Edinburgh to London today.

One involves the aircraft flying above over Brownhills towards Sutton Coldfield as it makes its way to the capital, BirminghamLive reports.

The second possible path would see the plane soaring above Leicester and down towards Northampton.

There is a chance Brits could track the progress of the aircraft on the app FlightRadar - although the flight number will be required to trace it.

The Queen's coffin is being flow from Edinburgh to RAF Northolt in London ahead of a final vigil at Westminster Hall. The flight will be accompanied by the Queen's daughter, Princess Anne.

There is no set flightpath between Edinburgh and London, and air traffic or weather may cause the plane to divert.

On his first flight down to London from Aberdeen airport on Friday, September 9, King Charles flew over West Northamptonshire.

He entered the county over Byfield, near Daventry, the plane flew over Woodford Halse, Canons Ashby, and Syresham, between Brackley and Silverstone.

On his flight up to Edinburgh, the King flew over central Northamptonshire. Flying over Castle Ashby and Grendon at around 11.45am, the plane crossed Earls Barton, Sywell, Mawsley, and near Rothwell before entering Leicestershire.

The plane is expected to leave Edinburgh airport at around 6pm. The flight between Edinburgh and RAF Northolt is around 55 minutes.

So if Brits look up to the skies this evening, there is a chance they could witness the Queen on her last journey.
