WhatsApp users may have already received a notification about an update to its privacy policy.
Users are being asked to agree to their data being shared by Facebook, who owns the messaging service.
This is a compulsory element in the new privacy policy and one you must accept if you don't want your account deactivated.
If users don't accept the new privacy terms then their WhatsApp account from will be removed from February 8.
Users are asked to agree when the notification appears to notify them of the policy change.
The small print, however, reads: "By tapping Agree, you accept the new terms which take affect on February 8, 2021. After this date you'll need to accept the new terms to continue using WhatsApp."
A WhatsApp spokesperson has said: "As we've previously talked about, we’re updating our terms of service and privacy policy as we work to make WhatsApp a great way to get answers or help from a business.
"Privacy policy and terms updates are common in the industry and we’re providing users with ample notice to review the changes."
WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in February 2014 for approximately 19.3 billion US dollars. It came after Mark Zuckerberg's company acquired Instagram two years earlier.
