What we know about transfer 'interest' in Nottingham Forest star Yuri Ribeiro

NottinghamshireLive understands there is nothing in the transfer rumour linking Nottingham Forest left-back Yuri Ribeiro with a move away from the club.

Ribeiro has been mentioned as a possible transfer target for Olympiacos by Portuguese media, with outlet Record making the claim yesterday evening.

Olympiacos, like Forest, are owned by Evangelos Marinakis and want to replace Kostas Tsimikas who left the club last week for Premier League champions Liverpool Jose Holebas could also be on their list with the former Watford defender pictured in Athens in recent days.

Pedro Martins, currently in charge of Olympiacos, will be well aware of his compatriot Ribeiro's qualities and will no doubt have been left impressed by his debut campaign in England with Forest.

Ribeiro joined Forest from Benfica in July last summer and made 31 appearances as Forest pushed for a play-off place.

The 23 year-old will start next season at left-back as Sabri Lamouchi 's side go for promotion again.

Indeed, he was one of Forest's top performers across the board last season and scored an average of seven out of ten in the 31 matches he played.

"Generally Mr Consistent at left-back," we wrote. "The Portuguese has really grown into the division since coming into the team. Has made the position his own now."

Ribeiro has also turned out for Rio Ave after coming through Benfica's academy.

He managed nine appearances for Benfica before making the move to Forest.

Ribeiro contributed three assists for the Reds in 27 Championship appearances in 2019-20.
