What was on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's note found by Marc Andre ter Stegen at Nou Camp

It wasn't Manchester United's night at the Nou Camp on Tuesday, but they gave it their best shot.

Seeking to overcome their 1-0 first leg deficit, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side started well and took the game to their opponents, with Marcus Rashford clipping an effort against the top of the crossbar in the opening stages of the game.

But soon, things turned Messi.

Lionel Messi took over for the hosts, scoring a fine solo effort and then benefiting from an awful David de Gea error to make it 2-0 soon after.

Philippe Coutinho would add a third in the second half as Barca eased through 4-0 on aggregate, leaving Solskjaer searching for answers on the bench.

But new footage captured in Spanish TV shows how the Norwegian tried to turn things around during the game.

Marcus Rashford 'stalling over new Man Utd contract' as Barcelona hover

Solskjaer was seen scribbling on a note on the bench, which he then passed to forward Rashford.

The United No.10 then brought the note onto the pitch and soaked up the information within.

But after tangling with Barca's former United defender Gerard Pique, Rashford ends up dropping the note on the edge of the Barca penalty area.

It is there that underworked home goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen picks up the note and has a little read, thereby learning Solskjaer's tactical masterplan.

And what was that masterplan?

Well, just a simple 4-4-2.

The scrunched up note was recovered by Spanish media after the game, and shows Solskjaer's setup and he attempted to getting back into the game in a very old-fashion, British kind of way.

Oh well.

Maybe next time Ole.
