What time to watch the solar eclipse in Scotland

• The fullest solar eclipse for the next 50 years will appear over Scotland on Wednesday evening.
• The Met Office says that those living along the west coast, including Glasgow, and on the Western Isles will see the most coverage in the country, with between 92 and 94 per cent of the sun obscured by the moon at the peak of the eclipse.
• Edinburgh locals will see about 90.7 per cent of the sun obscured, while Orkney and Shetland residents will see 88-90 per cent coverage.
• 'First contact' between the sun and moon will take place around 6.08pm in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The eclipse will peak in those cities at 7.05pm and 7.06pm respectively and finish at 8pm.
• Inverness and Aberdeen will see the peak at 7.03pm, while in Dundee, the peak comes at 7.04pm.
