Andy Murray addresses retirement rumours ahead of his 15th Wimbledon

Andy Murray will play fellow Brit Ryan Peniston in the opening round of Wimbledon, and could face a blockbuster match against Stefanos Tsitsipas or Dominic Thiem should he progress to the second round.

The 36-year-old has hopes of reaching the deep end of the tournament after the two-time Wimbledon champion won titles at Surbiton and Nottingham, but Murray will face one of the world’s top players in the second round should he face Tsitsipas, the tournament’s fifth seed, or Thiem, the former US Open champion.

Before then, Murray will open against the 26-year-old Peniston in all-British clash on Centre Court on Tuesday. Peniston is ranked 267th in the world and received a wildcard for the Wimbledon main draw.

Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek are top seeds for this year’s Wimbledon while Novak Djokovic and Elena Rybakina will be looking to defend their titles on the iconic grass courts of SW19.
