Pimblett missed the chance to become interim lightweight champion in a stunning headliner at UFC 324, showing incredible resilience as he was left bloodied during a brutal five-round war but was not stopped and lost by unanimous decision.
It was the Liverpool favourite’s first defeat in 11 MMA fights dating back to his Cage Warriors days, checking his significant momentum after a career-best victory over Michael Chandler at UFC 314 last April.
Gaethje has since become the undisputed lightweight champion by stunning the previously undefeated Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250 at the White House last month, with Pimblett hoping to get himself quickly in the mix for a rematch.
But first he must take care of business against Saint Denis, the French ‘God of War’ and former special forces soldier who is currently ranked as the UFC’s No5 lightweight contender.
Saint Denis has won his last four fights in a row, submitting both Kyle Prepolec and Mauricio Ruffy before then inflicting stoppages on Beneil Dariush and Dan Hooker.

Benoit Saint Denis vs Paddy Pimblett is the co-main event of UFC 329, serving as the chief support act to Conor McGregor’s first UFC fight for five years against Max Holloway at welterweight.
Saturday night’s main card is due to get underway at 2am BST on Sunday morning, which is 9pm ET and 7pm PT in the United States on Saturday night.
McGregor vs Holloway 2 is expected to start at around 4:30am BST, 11:30pm ET and 9:30pm PT.
While there is no exact start time for Saint Denis vs Pimblett, we can estimate that the contest will commence at approximately 3:30am BST, 10:30pm ET and 8:30pm PT, after the bantamweight showdown between Cory Sandhagen and Mario Bautista.
