What time is Nicola Sturgeon's update today? Where to watch and what to expect

Nicola Sturgeon is set to address the nation today in an update on Scotland's coronavirus situation.

The update is set to include the decision on whether or not to continue face covering requirements across Scotland.

It comes as the number of patients in hospital with recently confirmed cases of the virus reached a record high.

On Tuesday it was revealed that a total of 2,382 people are in hospitals across Scotland with Covid, up 23 on the previous 24 hours period, according to Scottish Government figures.

The First Minister and her government held talks over face masks during a cabinet meeting yesterday.

The First Minister is expected to get to her feet in the Scottish Parliament at around 2pm on Wednesday, March 30.

What to expect from Nicola Sturgeon's Covid announcement today

Nicola Sturgeon is set to reveal the Scottish Government's decision on face covering requirements.

Currently, Scots still need to wear face coverings in indoor public places such as shops and public transport.

Face mask rules were dropped in England back in January.

Today's update is likely to focus on whether or not face mask rules will remain in place following a review in cabinet yesterday.

During her statement Sturgeon will also announce the latest Covid figures.

The First Minister will then take questions from opposition leaders Douglas Ross (Tories) and Anas Sarwar (Scottish Labour) as well as other MSPs.
