What time does Warzone 2 Season 3 start? Update release time and preload explained

Warzone 2 Season 3 launches today, with the new season set to bring in a host of changes, including the return of one-shot snipers.

Warzone 2 Season 3 is coming later today and – as the name implies – it's the third season of content to hit Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 since its launch back in November 2022. The game has struggled to reach the heights of the original Warzone so far, with many content creators abandoning the game outright. However, from the look of the Warzone 2 Season 3 roadmap, things are headed in the right direction.

This upcoming season brings back one-shot snipers after trailing their return in a St Patrick's Day event. The popular Warzone 2 DMZ mode is also getting an overhaul in Warzone 2 Season 3 to integrate some new mechanics like bartering and workbenches. Not only that but the fan-favourite Plunder game mode is set to make its return to the game later on in the season.

Here is the confirmed Warzone 2 Season 3 start time, with additional preload and file size info.

What time does Warzone 2 Season 3 start?

Warzone 2 Season 3 will launch today at 6pm BST / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT, with the update going live with a simultaneous release worldwide.

The Season 3 content update is available to download now for PS4 and PS5, so you can preload it and be ready to jump in as soon as the new season goes live. But, if you're on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S or PC, you'll be able to download the update from 5pm BST / 12pm EDT / 9am PDT.

The Season 3 update size is around 18GB on all platforms, so depending on your internet connection, it may take a little while. And if you're on a console, you may need to have a spring clean to make room for it.

Everything new in the Warzone 2 Season 3 update

The biggest news going into Warzone 2 Season 3 is the return of one-shot sniper rifles. The FJX Imperium sniper – a reimagining of the classic Intervention sniper from past Call of Duty titles – will likely have this trait, as will other sniper rifles like the MCPR-300 if you have the right attachments. This has been the most requested feature to return to Warzone 2 as snipers have been dropped in the Warzone 2 meta in favour of assault rifles and SMGs. The FJX Imperium sniper will be available as part of the Warzone 2 Season 3 Battle Pass.

A new Resurgence mode – aptly named Massive Resurgence – joins Warzone 2 this season. Taking the Resurgence gameplay we know and love, but boosting it from 50 players up to 150, and dropping into the Battle Royale mode's Al Mazrah map. Resurgence is already a great time due to its sheer chaos, and this new variant looks like it will amplify that chaos tenfold.

DMZ mode is getting a lot of love in the Warzone 2 Season 3 update with a brand new bartering system set to give those players who love to hoard items something to do with their excess loot. Buy Stations will now have the option to trade items for valuables, these include Killstreaks, Self-Revive Kits and Recipes. DMZ mode is also getting the Contraband Workbench which will allow you to customise your Contraband Weapons during matches by adding or removing attachments.

Whether these upgrades coming alongside Warzone 2 Season 3 will help the game out of its slump remains to be seen, but we should have a better idea when we see the Warzone 2 Season 3 patch notes later today.
