What the press commentators are saying...

Can a newspaper's intrusion into the bedroom be justified? Yes, says Stephen Glover in The Independent, and offers an interesting defence to the publication of two "old-fashioned adultery stories" - one in the News of the World about the Duke of Westminster and the other, in the Daily Mail about the director of public prosecutions, Sir Ken Macdonald. Peter Wilby in The Guardian argues that because the press depends on contriving shock "it has to stay several steps behind conventional morality. Journalists are required to behave like Victorian maiden aunts."

Yesterday, Peter Cole in the Independent on Sunday reported on a visit to the Daily Telegraph and discovered the editor, Will Lewis, speaking "modern geek" while talking up his online adventures. Peter Preston in The Observer championed the freedom of information act by listing some of the stories revealed through its use.
