What Said Benrahma has said about his future amid Chelsea and West Ham transfer links

West Ham are one of a number of clubs who have been linked with a transfer swoop for Brentford star Said Benrahma this summer but any switch depends on which league the Bees will be playing in next season.

Brentford were beaten 1-0 in the Championship play-off semi final first leg against Swansea City on Sunday and play their return game at Griffin Park on Tuesday night. A day at Wembley for the final awaits the winner against either Cardiff City or Fulham.

Should the Bees secure promotion through the play-offs then it is unlikely that Benrahma will be going anywhere. Should Thomas Frank’s side not go up then there will be a queue of clubs banging down Brentfdords’s door for the Algerian playmaker.

Chelsea are believed to be at the front of that queue, Arsenal have been credited with an interest as well, as have Leeds United and the Hammers.

The Algerian was plucked from Nice for just £2.7million in the summer of 2018 and 17 goals and eight assists later, has taken the Championship by storm and emerged as one of the best talents outside of the Premier League.

Speaking of links with moves to the Blues and Gunners recently, Benrahma told the Daily Mail : 'I was really flattered.

“'But I'm so focused on trying to get a promotion with Brentford that I don't want to pay too much attention. But, of course, it is giving me confidence.

“My progression is due to Brentford, they have given me a lot of confidence. I was not very confident when I was at Nice but now I am. It's thanks to Brentford. So I'm going to fight to help take Brentford to the next step.

“I always watched the Premier League, especially Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. Since I was a kid I wanted to play in England. But I don't look at it as my destiny to play in the Premier League - it has always been a target and I wish to play there with Brentford.”

David Moyes is targeting the likes of Benrahma and other players from the Championship such as Eberechi Eze, Antonee Robinson and Ryan Manning as he looks to build a young core of players for next season.

The Hammers will need to sell before they buy though and will listen to offers for Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini, Jack Wilshere and other fringe players in order to create funds to rejuvenate Moyes' squad.

One player who is close to leaving is Albian Ajeti, who is set to join Celtic on loan in the coming days.
