Nyjah Huston is one of the biggest names in skateboarding. The Laguna Beach native has been around since mid 2000s when he burst onto the scene as one of the biggest prodigies action sports have ever seen. His talent has been widely recognized by the skateboarding community, and his accolades speak the tale of his success on their own. As far as X Games Skateboard Street goes, he is by far the best skater of all time. Only within these promotions he holds 11 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
As if that wasn't enough, his exploits in Street Best Trick, Real Street, and Real Street Best Trick raise the number to 15 more medals, and 28 in total. The day he won the Street and Street Best Trick at X Games he equalled the all-time record previously held by Shaun White and Garrett Reynolds, all three tied at 15 golds apiece since 2022. Reynolds has since pulled ahead, breaking the tie at X Games Chiba 2024 and extending it further to 17 golds with a Sacramento win this season, but Bob Burnquist was forever left behind by Huston as he stands at 14 as we speak.

The winner of bronze medal at 2024 Paris Olympics, saw his health hampered during the most recent fall, when he injured his cheekbone, fractured a jaw, and lacerated a kidney. While these injuries are scary on their own, they appear to be even worse when you know that back in January, Huston suffered another fall that fractured his skull and harmed his eye socket. None of the injuries were planned, but on both occasions, Huston was quick to address his health through social media platforms and inform his fans of his well being. Right now, all of these injuries are put behind him, and the skater is looking to get back to the best version of himself. It is no secret that Huston desires to skate as long as possible, and to even try to break some records for the oldest skaters competing at the highest level. Nyjah Huston at Moonpay X Games League (XGL) 2026 Summer Season
X Games are moving in a new direction. X Games League is a novelty league that is looking to parry the biggest sports in the world. It has both the Summer Season and the Winter Season. It even had a draft similar to the one in the NFL or NBA. Moonpay X Games League (XGL) 2026 held in New Orleans will be the first ever championship event in the competition. For the first time ever, this will not be only an individual competition, but there will be both individual rewards and team accomplishments, with both being able to collect points to claim the call of the eventual winner. The event is scheduled for the weekend between 24th and 26th of July, 2026.
This event is not only the first of its kind, but it is also the first action sports event held at an NFL stadium. The venue is expected to be packed, with programs for the fans spanning far beyond the sport, with different festivities, food markets, and music festivals being held around the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. As far as Nyjah Huston is concerned he will be skating for his personal glory, but also for the team that has drafted him, the XC New York. XC NY is one of the first four teams created to complement the idea of Moonpay X Games League (XGL) 2026. The main reason why NY has a team is because it is seen as one of the main locations where action sports thrive. Their team is composed of athletes that represent different branches of action sports such as BMX with Daniel Sandoval and Logan Martin, skateboarding with Nyjah Huston and Jagger Eaton, and Chloe Covell, Heili Sirvio, and Hannah Roberts among a couple of others.
Other cities represented at the Moonpay X Games League (XGL) 2026 Summer Season are Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, and Tokyo. As of now it is not known whether the league will be looking to expand in the future. Of course, a lot of it will depend on how the New Orleans event will go down. The expectations are high, but when you know the names involved it would be no surprise that it is a complete success.
The Courage to Get Back on Board
While there's plenty of reasons to feel envious of the success Nyjah Huston has had during his career, injuries are not one of them. Yet, he knows his body, and what needs to be done after an injury. For Huston, the formula is simple, get your rest, and get back into action as fast as possible. While no one should be rushing back from an injury as it could make matters even worse, for Nyjah not being active and doing nothing is causing too much stress to allow it to be status quo. Today, after suffering injuries to his skull and eye socket in January, and to jaw, kidneys, and cheekbone, he is feeling as good as ever.
The recuperation was not going all that well, and for a while, Huston was feeling the consequences of heavy falls, some of which landed directly on his head, causing concussions. Due to that fact, he described the first few days of his rest as being a Zombie who was not thinking straight. First it was full rest, then it was slight walking activities, before he moved to skating on flat surfaces. Considering that he is dedicating this summer to the Moonpay X Games League (XGL) 2026 Summer Season, his resting methods gave the needed results. Of course, Huston remains aware of his limitations as a human and as a skater, and is aware that this highly active action sport is not something he can do forever. But, as of right now, he pointed out that as far as injuries go: ' I don’t want to risk that happening again. I’m going to obviously still skate because it’s the thing I love the most, but I’m just going to skate benches and lower impact things that I’m not risking my life on. But I’m not at that point yet. I’m still down to risk my life.'
Business as Usual
When it comes to action sports and X Games Nyjah Huston is one of the biggest draws out there. As such, he has numerous business opportunities open up to him on all fronts. Thus, he has managed to launch a deodorant line called Out There. He has been present from the start of the brand development. Huston claims that it is a quality product that has a lifestyle to it. Is created with clear vision, and has managed to successfully match him as a person with how it feels, and with the name itself. The brand is not only about a deodorant but about motivating people to go out there, lead a more active life, and try to replicate the things that led to the success Huston has had by simply doing his hobby on the streets of LA once upon a time.

The Laguna Beach native stated on more than one occasion that he is planning to compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This would be the Olympics in a city where he has spent the majority of his skateboarding career. It would be his third Olympics after Tokyo and Paris. After a bronze at Paris he is now eager to take home gold in front of the home crowd.
Of course, this is not going to be an easy task considering just how much the sport has grown in the past two years, and with additional two to 2028 LA. Talking about this, Huston said: "I would love to skate 2028. I’m really stoked that it’s in L.A., basically my hometown. I mean, I’ve spent so many years living in L.A. I’ve probably spent more time throughout my life street skating in L.A. than any other city in the world."
There's still plenty of time to go until LA is hosting the Olympics, and in the meantime, you can watch Nyjah Huston in New Orleans, where he will together with his XC New York team try to take the glory back home. So far, his team has gathered 1770 points which is enough for a share of Rank 1 on the season. Out of those 1770 points, 80 were contributed by Huston.
