Thousands of people are expected to descend upon the streets of London in protest at Donald Trump’s unprecedented second state visit.
The US president arrives in Britain on Tuesday night for a two-day stay, during which time he and his wife Melania will meet King Charles and Sir Keir Starmer.

His Majesty will host Trump and the First Lady on Wednesday at Windsor Castle in Berkshire, before the trip continues on Thursday at the PM’s Chequers country residence in Buckinghamshire.
Police say they are “braced” for action on the streets as masses gather to protest the controversial president’s visit.
Here are all the protests expected to take place in the coming days:
Stop Trump - Windsor
Tuesday September 16 - Windsor High Street, 6pm
Police say a “very high threat level” has been declared at Windsor Castle today (Tuesday) ahead of Donald Trump’s imminent arrival.
The US president and wife Melania are due to arrive at Windsor Castle’s on Tuesday evening, where they will be hosted by King Charles and treated to a ceremonial welcome and a lavish state banquet the following day.
“Large scale” protests are expected on the streets of Windsor on Tuesday night, when demonstrators from the Stop Trump Coalition will take to Windsor high street from 6pm.
Already campaigners from Fossil Free London have unfurled a banner with a picture of President Trump and Jeffrey Epstein in advance of the event.
The banner, which was hung next to Windsor Castle read: “Climate criminal. War criminal. The only place he’s welcome is The Hague.”
Director of Fossil Free London Robin Wells said: “Genocide is unfolding. Seen on our phones through the faces of thousands of screaming children. Floods and fires across Europe get closer each day to our own front doors. But Trump claps and cheers for more.
“Not only does he refuse to impose sanctions, he cheers on ethnic cleansing and the seizure of Palestinian land. Not only does he fail to take the bold climate action needed he tears up existing climate policy and crows for his billionaire bros to drill for more oil.
“Trump’s politics are not welcome here. This second state visit is a stain on our collective consciousness.”
Stop Trump - London
Wednesday September 17 - Portland Place, 2pm
The Stop Trump Coalition — which is composed of more than 50 trade unions, charities and interest groups — will gather in Portland Place near the BBC’s New Broadcasting House at 2pm on Wednesday for speeches, before marching, in what is expected to be the biggest of all the protests.
The march will move at 3pm, with protestors travelling through central London down Regent Street through Piccadilly Circus, and then onto Whitehall, past Downing Street to the rally at Parliament Square, which is set to begin around 5pm.
Organisers have appealed for as many to join at any time they can to make it a massive event, saying: “If you can't make it to the march, feel free to join the rally after work! Nearest tube: Westminster.”
A spokeswoman for the Stop Trump Coalition said: “After seeing the UK’s largest far-right demo this past weekend, it is even more essential to turn out to protest against Donald Trump’s state visit.
“Starmer’s response to this disgusting display was too little, too late, and now he’s welcoming Trump here to discuss nuclear and tech deals that will help the rich get richer but do nothing for everyday people.
“We do not want our government to trade away our democracy and decency.”
The event will feature speeches from the likes of new Green Party leader and City Hall member Zack Polanski, as well as former Labour leader and Islington North MP Jeremy Corbyn.
Stop Trump - Edinburgh
Thursday September 18 - The Meadows, 6pm
Another is planned for Thursday in Scotland where the same Stop Trump Coalition will host a demonstration outside The Meadows in Edinburgh from 6pm.
The group say: “Protest against Trump’s state visit in Edinburgh! Thursday 18 September, 6pm, The Meadows (near the Pavilion Cafe).”
Adding in the promise: “More local protests coming soon…”
They also listed a signature protest on their website here for those who cannot attend in person.
Organisers say: Instead of bowing and scraping, we demand the government stands up to Trump.
“It is a disgrace that Starmer’s Labour government has invited Donald Trump for a second state visit.”
Intersectional Uprising - No to Trump - Various locations
Friday September 19
Intersectional Uprising - a women's organisation “dedicated to empowering women and girls, advocating for their rights, and championing their autonomy” will take to the streets to protest Trump’s arrival a few days after his visit to show their displeasure.
The group have organised four different protests to take place at the same time at four major destinations around the country.
The rallies will all begin at 1pm and will take place at the government departments in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland:
The group say they “want answers” from our governments as to “why a convicted felon” has been allowed into the country.
