What Pep Guardiola did on the touchline after Chelsea's Reece James embarrassed Benjamin Mendy

Pep Guardiola gave a priceless reaction to Reece James' brilliant piece of play against Manchester City.

James and his Chelsea teammates defeated Premier League leaders Manchester City away from home on Saturday, a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso.

The win saw Chelsea move into third and put them in a commanding position in the race to finish in the top four, now six points clear of West Ham in fifth and seven ahead of Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

The victory also meant Manchester City had to wait to win the Premier League title with three more points required for Guardiola's men to cross the line.

It was a frustrating afternoon for City, who missed a penalty that would have seen them retake the lead, and they also felt they should have won a penalty before Chelsea's winner when Raheem Sterling was brought down.

But Chelsea got the job done, and with a little style, too, or at least in the case of full-back and rising star James.

During the game, James pulled off a neat touch to beat Benjamin Mendy on the touchline before showing his pace to burst away and leave his opponent eating his dust, so to speak.

And just yards away, City boss Guardiola couldn't believe what he was seeing from Mendy, throwing out his arms in disappointment before crouching down to the floor in disbelief.

That's not the sort of reaction any player wants to draw from his manager, but it's exactly what James will have been looking for as he took on Mendy with ease.

James has been excellent for Chelsea this season, making the right-back role his own and largely managing to keep hold of it since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel with Cesar Azpilicueta playing as part of the three-man central defensive unit.
