What is Harris Blitzer net worth? Sports & Entertainment group interested in Liverpool takeover

American sports firm Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment have emerged as a potential candidate to succeed Fenway Sports Group as owners of Liverpool.

The latest development comes a little over a week after The Athletic revealed that the Reds' American owners were open to offers ahead of a potential full sale of the club, but also minority investors to join them at Anfield.

While plenty of names have been mooted in the ever-changing discussions since the news broke last Monday, American individuals appear to be leading the race due to FSG's relationship with US banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, who are said to be tasked with sounding out any potential successors and evaluating the current economic scene.

On Wednesday, the ECHO was informed by sources in the United States that Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) were 'mulling their options' when weighing up a potential takeover of the Anfield club. The Philadelphia-based entertainment firm are no strangers to sports ownership and currently boasts shares in both NBA and NHL giants Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils.

HBSE was founded by Josh Harris and David S. Blitzer in 2017 and was tasked with organising all of their sports assets into one firm. According to the Philidelphia Business Journal, HBSE are worth in the region of $3bn.

Individually, Harris' break in the economic industry occurred in 1990 as he was one of the founding members of a private equity firm Apollo Global Management, alongside Marc Rowan, Leon Black and Antony Ressler.

According to the American financial magazine Forbes, Harris has a net worth of $5.9B and - at the time of writing - is the 427th richest person in the world. Since 2016, his net worth has more than doubled due to his success with HBSE and the company's investments.

Like Harris, Blitzer is also an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania and after graduating he accepted a position with the US investing business Blackstone Group. Alongside his business partner - through their corporation HBSE - they were successful with a $280m bid for the 76ers back in 2011.

His net worth is said to be in the region of $1.3 billion.
