Arsenal have an away goal to take back to the Emirates Stadium for their Europa League semi-final second leg tie with Villarreal.
The Gunners were beaten 2-1 in the first-leg on Thursday night, but a piece of footage has since been spotted that could have seen the game finish all square.
Truthfully, Mikel Arteta's side were somewhat fortunate to have only lost by a one goal margin, as they left themselves with a huge mountain to climb after conceding twice in the first-half and seeing Dani Ceballos sent-off 10 minutes into the second half.
However, a crucial save from Bernd Leno at one end and Nicolas Pepe's penalty at the other means Arsenal are still in the tie and a 1-0 win in the second leg will see them into the Europa League final.
With that said, it could have been a whole lot better for the north London outfit.
In the 80th minute, Pepe had the ball in the back of the net as a well-worked set-piece routine saw Pablo Mari nod the ball across the face of goal for the Ivorian to tap home.
Although, it should be noted that the Villarreal players had stopped before the ball had even found its way to Pepe.
This is because the referee, Artur Manuel Soares Dias, had blown his whistle and awarded a free-kick to Villarreal after spotting an infringement in the build up.
Calum Chambers immediately protested against the decision as it was he who was penalised for a foul on former teammate Francis Coquelin.
The Gunners are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Arteta will be hoping to have club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back, with the 31-year-old missing three weeks of football after revealing that he contracted malaria on international duty with Gabon.
He made his return for the Gunners in their Europa League semi final first leg against Villarreal on Thursday as a substitute but was not deemed fit enough to start the match.
And with the crucial second leg against Unai Emery 's side coming up just next Thursday, Arteta has provided the last on his captain's chances of playing the visit to St. James' Park.
"He hasn’t trained much, he is still not at the level in his physique that he should be to start," said the Spaniard to press on Friday. "We will see again tomorrow how he is.
"Yesterday he could only play a few minutes but we managed to get him on the pitch, which is great news for us."
