What Frank Lampard told Chelsea players in dressing room after Man City defeat

Frank Lampard had some words of encouragement for his Chelsea players after they were beaten in an away Premier League game for the first time since the opening day of the season.

City came from behind to win 2-1 at the Etihad, with goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez following N'Golo Kante's opener.

Asked by Sky Sports what message he had for his players in the dressing room at full-time, Lampard said: "The fact that it hurts to lose any match, but even more when you're not used to it. In the league, and with our away form, we've been winning for a long time.

"We've got to take the positives, and learn from the negatives. We need to look at that - but let's go again."

Lampard said it was a game of narrow margins, with City's quality in attack the reason they emerged from the game as narrow victors.

"It was a tough game, it felt like we went toe-to-toe in the main, and a moment of quality from Mahrez and a deflection for the first goal feels like the difference to me," Lampard added.

"There was a lot of detail in the game, but the amount of times we got into their third in either half, but didn't have that little bit of quality which we can have. Games like this can be won or lost in the boxes, and I think that happened."
