What ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said about Tottenham losing Champions League final

Arsene Wenger reminisced on losing in the Champions League final with Arsenal back in 2006 on Saturday night.

Wenger's Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Barcelona in the final in France, with goals from Samuel Eto'o and Juliano Belletti downing the Gunners who took the lead through Sol Campbell.

Tottenham had a chance to become the first team in north London to lift the Champions League trophy in Madrid this weekend.

But it was Premier League rivals Liverpool who came out on top, beating Spurs 2-0 to win a sixth European title.

Tottenham are Arsenal's biggest rivals, and Wenger had some very competitive matches against Spurs during his managerial career.

But on beIN SPORTS on Saturday the Frenchman explained how it's never any fun losing a final, especially after such a brilliant season.

"We live in a society where you feel that if you are not the best you are Mr. Nobody, and in our world even more so," said Wenger.

"But as I said before the game both managers made a good job to get in there and at the end of the day, it is cruel in our game.

"Always one jumps to the roof and one cries, and if you're the one who cries you feel you have not done well even if sometimes you have done."
