What Destiny Udogie has been doing in preparation for Tottenham summer return after Udinese loan

Destiny Udogie has continued to make quite the name for himself in Serie A this season. Starring for Udinese last campaign, the 19-year-old was linked with a host of Europe's top clubs as a result.

Tottenham managed to win the race for his signature, signing him on a five-year contract in the middle of August. Remaining with Udinese on a season-long loan as part of the deal, plenty of Tottenham fans have been keeping a close eye on Serie A as they look to gain an insight into what he will bring to the Lilywhites team in 2023/24.

Udogie's eye-catching appearances have certainly whetted the appetite but supporters will have to wait until next summer for him to wear the white of Tottenham for the very first time. Speaking to Sky Sports after their draw away at Cremonese on Sunday, the Italy U21 international was asked about Tottenham but he made it clear his current priority is Udinese rather than his parent club.

However, he did indicate that he is studying the team and their style of play ahead of linking up with the rest of the squad for the very first time.

“Now I’m here at Udinese, I’m focused,” he explained, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb. “From next year I’ll think about Tottenham. I know it’s the most difficult, beautiful and intense league. I follow the team, to see how they play and what players there are."

Starting all 11 of his Serie A appearances so far in 2022/23, the Verona-born player has two goals and one assist to his name so far. He will certainly be a welcome addition at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with wing-backs such a key part of Antonio Conte's system.

Asked by football.london about Udogie in August, the Spurs boss opened up on his new man and labelled him as a "good prospect" for the club.

"You said it well, he's a player for the future," he said. "I think he is a good prospect for Tottenham because we are talking about a young player. For sure this player needs to develop like Spence and in my opinion a good investment for the club. Now he continues to play in this season with Udinese and in this way he has the possibility to play regularly."
