What Arsenal fans are saying about Denis Suarez as he makes first start

Denis Suarez made his very first start for Arsenal in a friendly against Al-Nasr during the Gunners' warm-weather break in Dubai on Tuesday.

And it seems his performance split Gunners supporters down the middle with some praising his runs on the left wing, and others slamming his 'predictability'.

The former Manchester City midfielder joined Arsenal on loan from Barcelona in the January transfer window but has so far only made cameo appearances for the bench.

Unai Emery opted to give him his first start in Dubai, and all eyes were on him as the Gunners set about asserting their dominance over their opposition.

But it was Arsenal who would go a goal behind when Al-Nasr star Ronnie Fernandez opened the scoring with a brilliant shot, after sending Shkodran Mustafi to the ground in a heap with a great bit of skill.

Reacting to Suarez's individual performance, some Arsenal fans were delighted with the midfielder's intricate footwork.

One wrote: "Suarez and [Mesut] Ozil: every bit as awesome as you would expect," while another added: "Denis Suarez, what a run."

A third said: "I was just about to tweet how well Denis Suarez has been doing when we concede. Great shot in fairness," and a fourth concluded: "Suarez showing some decent footwork."

But you can't please everyone in this game, and some were disappointed with what they saw from the Barcelona man.

One supporter wrote: "And Denis Suarez wonders why he isn't playing first team football. So far looks poor. Weak. But plenty of time."

Another added: "This Denis Suarez is not even good for U23," while a third concluded: "Denis Suarez's style of play is predictable and ineffective."
