Despite a huge outcry from the American public it looks like those Epstein files aren’t getting released. At least not while the GOP has the majority.
On Monday night, the House Rules Committee took a vote on whether or not to attach an amendment on a landmark cryptocurrency legislation. This amendment would have forced Attorney General Pam Bondi to release all the information she currently holds on the Jeffrey Epstein case. According to an article from Axios, she would have had 30 days to release the files if the amendment had been passed.
What was the result of the Rules Committee vote?
Unsurprisingly, House Republicans did not go for the amendment, backing Donald Trump and the rest of MAGA who seem to be trying their very best to bury the Epstein case as fast as possible. The fact that this administration is so adamant on dropping the Epstein case so quickly only serves to make people more suspicious.
The final tally came to five votes in favor vs seven against. All votes against the amendment came from Republicans with the four Democrats on the panel all voting in favor. But not all of Trump’s party are supportive of their president. One Republican, rep. Ralph Norman crossed over and voted with the four Democrats to bring the total to five. Norman told Axios, “The public’s been asking for it. I think there are files. All of a sudden not to have files is a little strange, We’ll see how it plays out … I think the president will do the right thing.”
On X people were less than impressed with the result of the vote with the decision confirming in the minds of many that the Republicans are hiding something.

One individual asked the very important question, “If the Epstein Files don’t exist, like they claim, why do they need to block them being released?” Something just doesn’t add up here.
Democrats will use the Epstein files to their advantage
It seems the GOP has underestimated how important the public believe releasing the Epstein files is. The author of the Epstein measure, rep. Ro Khanna said “The question with Epstein is: Whose side are you on? Are you on the side of the rich and powerful, or are you on the side of the people?” The people want the files to be made public and the Republicans seem dead set on hiding it from them.
Democrat rep. Jim McGovern also added that the Republican party had broken the trust the people of the country had put in them. “This is about trust. Republicans said, ‘Trust us. Vote for us and we will release these files.’ Well here we are — they’re backtracking,” This monumental blunder has left Democrats an opening to continually drill the current administration on and it looks like they’re certainly going to be making use of this newfound weakness.
