Wetherspoon yob with bloody mouth threatens police with beating from her brother

A foul-mouthed drunk was arrested - despite insisting she was "not getting locked up".

Shortly before midnight, police arrived to an incident near a Newcastle Wetherspoon pub to find known nuisance Kathleen Hindes causing a scene.

"She had blood coming from her mouth and was shouting and swearing," prosecutor Eve McDonnell told North Tyneside Magistrates' Court.

Officers tried calming the 49-year-old, only to be called "bullying b*******" and be threatened with a beating.

The court heard Hindes then unleashed a volley of threats directed at the officers as she stood near the Mile Castle, on Westgate Road.

"You can f*** off - I'm not getting locked up," she told police. "I will get my brother to beat you."

However, she was arrested and on Wednesday, she was convicted of drunk and disorderly in her absence after she failed to show up at court.

The prosecutor revealed the defendant, of no fixed address, has over 30 convictions to her name and owes hundreds of pounds in unpaid fees.

No mitigation was offered up for the absentee, who was fined £75 for the latest incident.

Hindes was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £32 charge.
